End of week 5/20
This marks the end of the first phase. I’ve divided the project into 4 5-week phases. I should now be done with the preparations and start doing the bulk part of the master’s thesis.
Summary of week [5/20]
- Monday: replicating earlier results on anomaly detection
- Tuesday: replicating earlier results on anomaly detection
- Wednesday: replicating earlier results on anomaly detection
- Thursday
- Replicating earlier results on anomaly detection
- Some experimenting and visualizing of metrics in Grafana
- Prepared the outline for my report
- Friday
- Prepared the outline for my report
- Had a meeting with my supervisor regarding what to prioritize going forward

Next week
Next week will begin the next phase of the project. In my project plan, I’ve divided the project into 4 phases and during next phase (Phase II) I’ve planned for doing the bulk part of the work, collecting data, running anomaly detection methods.
I’ve just now reached the point where I can start implement anomaly detection methods, so in this regard one could say that I’m back on track on my project planning.
Upcoming tasks
Next week I should send in my report for my first peer review session of my master’s thesis, so therefore I will obviously have to spend some time writing on my report next week.
I still haven’t “established a baseline” for normal operations yet (see last weeks tasks) or made a final decision on what metrics to use for anomaly detection. So I will do that either during the weekend or during next week.
Besides from that, I should design and implement anomaly detection algorithms. :)
